Junior Product Development Engineer
FibreCoat GmbH | Aachen, Germany | €47.000 to €53.000 per annum + VSOP
FibreCoat is truly revolutionising advanced materials manufacturing. As one of Germany’s most exciting deep-tech scale-ups, they are developing affordable, sustainable high-performance materials that are opening up new possibilities across a range of industries.
As new products move from the lab towards customers, FibreCoat is looking for a Junior Product Development Engineer to join the team in Aachen. This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent engineering graduate or early-career engineer who wants hands-on product development experience, rather than sitting behind a desk.
You will join an international, hands-on team where engineering excellence meets a genuine drive to improve, and where early-career engineers are given real responsibility from day one.
The Role
As Junior Product Development Engineer, you will help take new products from development through to qualification. You will make sure every product is clearly specified, properly tested and fully documented, working closely with R&D, Operations, Quality and Business Development along the way.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Running hands-on experiments, trials and process runs on new products
- Testing materials and products against defined criteria
- Analysing test and production data to spot trends, gaps and deviations
- Creating and maintaining product specifications, datasheets and test reports
- Classifying products and variants by technical characteristics and application
- Keeping requirements, configurations and test results fully traceable
- Preparing qualification documentation for internal teams and customers
- Acting as a link between R&D, Operations, Quality and Business Development
Candidate profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering, or a related field
- Practical experience through internships, working-student roles or a thesis, or up to 2 years in industry
- Basic knowledge of material testing, product characterisation or manufacturing processes
- Strong analytical skills and confidence working with technical data
- A structured, detail-focused approach to documentation and reporting
- The ability to turn customer requirements into clear technical actions
- A proactive, hands-on mindset suited to a fast-paced start-up environment
- Fluent English, including technical English (German is a plus)
The package:
- Competitive salary and benefits
- ESOP (employee stock ownership)
- 30 days’ annual leave
- Home office options
- Real responsibility and a clear path to grow with the company
- Modern office, snack bar and regular team events
If you are an early-career engineer with a passion for materials and want to see your work go all the way to customers, apply now and we would be happy to discuss the opportunity in more detail.
