The Global Research Collaboration for Infectious Disease Preparedness" (glopid-r.org) is a global alliance of funding agencies aiming to increase the efficiency of funding for emerging or remerging infectious diseases. GloPID-R has 42 members from around the world, including The World Health Organisation (WHO), the Wellcome Trust, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Medical research Council of South Africa (SAMRC), and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The Secretariat of GloPID-R, based Berlin is looking for a Media Manager in part-time and, in the first instance, fixed-term until the 31st of December 2025.

Job Overview

• In collaboration with the Scientific and Advocacy Director and Head of Operations create a comprehensive communication and advocacy strategy, ensuring alignment with GloPID-R organizational goals.
• In collaboration with the Scientific and Advocacy Director, Head of Operations and GloPID-R members design and implement advocacy campaigns targeting specific audiences to promote awareness and engagement.
• In collaboration with the Scientific and Advocacy Director and Head of Operations implement communication plans to increase GloPID-R external visibility in the scientific community.
• Monitor campaign performance and adjust strategies as needed.
• Create press releases to announce important developments, achievements, and events related to GloPID-R activities.
• Gather intelligence and maintain media relations in the context of GloPID-R initiatives.
• In collaboration with the Scientific and Advocacy Director and Head of Operations develop informative and concise fact sheets to communicate key aspects of GloPID-R initiatives and objectives.
• As necessary, coordinate and facilitate collaboration between the GloPID-R Secretariat and external agencies for the development of visuals or other promotional materials.

Required

• Master´s degree in the field of communications and PR Broad expertise in executing communication strategies within the framework of global health
• Full proficiency in German and English, both written and spoken. Fluency in a second or third foreign language will be a plus.
• Ability to plan, work under pressure and demonstrate availability and responsiveness.
• Strong interpersonal skills (teamwork both internally and externally, and relations with project partners).
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment with partners from diverse backgrounds.
• A keen interest in infectious disease research, major international partnerships and funding, and communication to improve coordination and collaboration in global health.
• Prior experience working for an EU-funded project would be appreciated.

Job Information

• Salary group E13 according to TVöD- VKA- K. The classification is based on qualification, the respective experience level is calculated from the years of professional experience. The annual salary (gross) is given for a full-time position without annual bonus, allowances and additional services. You can find the collective agreement here
