Position Description
- You manage a highly specialized physical lab focusing on developments for microfluidic products
- You plan and execute complex physical and chemical analysis, including biological applications like PCR workflows. You apply advanced statistics for study layouts and document the results according to IVD standards. You assess, review and report data, with a clear understanding of its reliability, quality and traceability. Interpret findings and draw authoritative conclusions and recommendations, identifying challenges and proposing improvements.
- You design, source and qualify highly complex instruments for the lab and manage the maintenance and necessary adaptions to support the disposable developments.
- You stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in physical lab technology and relevant industry regulations and you are constantly extending your knowhow regarding high-end technologies for microfluidic polymer systems. You maintain a good understanding of health and safety in an R&D environment and a willingness to promote a safety-first culture.
- You work within a matrix environment: estimating project resource and facility requirements, analyzing the effect of resource on timelines; planning and coordinating work packages for several people. This includes the ability to work across departmental boundaries and influence others to effectively and efficiently deliver agreed work.
- You ensure that there is an effective sharing of relevant lab knowledge within the team and you coach and mentor junior staff to ensure continuous development and nurture a connected and effective team.
- Engineering education with at least 2 years relevant work experience in the fields of polymers, medical devices and microfluidics or comparable background
- Experience in lab management of physical labs, in the development of physical lab devices and knowledge in polymeric medical components are essential. Further experience in chemical and biological lab work is desired
- Demonstrated skills in CAD design (SolidWorks) and programming (Python, C, others)
- Experience in planning and organizing own and others’ lab work to deliver studies/ small projects to meet quality, budget and timeline requirements and the ability to analyze and interpret data, as well as prepare high quality protocols and reports, is essential.
- Demonstratable troubleshooting skills with knowledge of specific statistical tools is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in German and English are required
