As a Senior Buyer (m/f/d), you will ensure the efficient procurement of materials, technical components, and services to support both production operations and CAPEX-related initiatives. You will manage procurement transactions independently, oversee supplier relationships, ensure contract compliance, and actively support the implementation of SAP S/4HANA. The role includes contributing to process improvements across the entire group and its international subsidiaries.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Independent processing of procurement transactions for materials, spare parts, operating supplies, and technical services – especially in the production environment
- Entry, approval, and management of purchase orders using SAP ERP, including end-to-end monitoring of order status and delivery deadlines
- Responsible for purchasing technical components, machinery, and plant-related services for both existing and new facilities
- Close collaboration with technical departments, engineering, and project teams to clarify specifications and define procurement strategies
- Evaluation of supplier proposals from a technical, commercial, and logistical standpoint
- Purchasing support for capital investment projects (e.g., new equipment, facility upgrades, infrastructure development) in close coordination with internal project teams
- Preparation, negotiation, and administration of procurement contracts related to CAPEX activities
- Ensuring consistent documentation of procurement-related project activities in compliance with internal standards
- Conducting competitive bidding, cost analyses, and supplier negotiations, particularly for high-volume or long-term procurement needs
- Negotiation, conclusion, and management of framework agreements, service contracts, and leasing agreements in collaboration with legal and technical departments
- Ongoing development and qualification of suppliers, including supplier evaluation and long-term relationship management
- Creation of purchasing reports, spend analyses, and supplier performance metrics for internal departments and executive management
- Support of budget planning with reliable purchasing insights
- Maintenance of procurement-related master data in the SAP system
- Proactive contribution to the improvement and digitalization of procurement processes
- Involvement in cross-departmental initiatives, particularly in the areas of process automation and ERP integration
- Leveraging market and supplier knowledge to continuously develop procurement best practices
- Successfully completed university degree (e.g. in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or similar)
- At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in international procurement, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Proven experience with technical sourcing, especially related to production equipment and CAPEX-related investments
- Strong negotiation skills, particularly in high-volume procurement scenarios
- Sound knowledge of contract and supplier management
- Proficient in SAP ERP systems, with hands-on experience and ideally exposure to SAP S/4HANA implementation or rollout
- Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken
- Proactive, structured, and independent working style with a solution-oriented mindset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and hierarchies
- International experience in procurement or project environments is highly desirable – particularly with international suppliers, cross-border contracts, or multilingual negotiations
