The Institute for Physical Chemistry (IPC) at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, in collaboration with the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technology (IPHT), is seeking applications for a PhD student position in the field of photophysics of light-switchable membranes. This opportunity is part of a European research project and focuses on membrane assembly and time-resolved optical spectroscopy.

Research Areas Include

– Electron-transfer dynamics in functional molecular materials

– Photoinduced primary processes in molecules and functional materials

– Investigation of photoinduced processes in protochlorophyllid NADPH oxidoreductase

– Construction and spectroscopic characterization of semiconductor-molecule and metal-molecule interfaces

– Raman spectroscopic analysis of self-healing processes in polymeric coatings

Requirements

– A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physical chemistry, materials science, physics, or a related discipline

– Strong interest in photophysics, spectroscopy, and molecular materials

– Experience with optical spectroscopy and/or membrane assembly is advantageous

Interested candidates are invited to contact Dr. Benjamin Dietzek Ivansic for further information and application procedures:
