Our "UX Insights and Concepts" team is concerned with understanding occupants to design functions that enable a positive user experience. Current trends in artificial intelligence (AI) call for the investigation and understanding of AI use in the vehicle environment. As part of your three-year doctoral project, you will develop usage scenarios for Explainable AI (xAI) in the vehicle and investigate these using studies. Possible Tasks within this Role

  • Researching on approaches to making AI models explainable
  • Developing potential usage scenarios of xAI in the vehicle
  • Empirically investigating variables such as usability, acceptance, trust and preference towards xAI in the vehicle
  • Assessing the opportunities and risks of xAI in the automotive industry
  • Deriving design features for xAI

The final doctoral topic is defined together with the professor. The prerequisite for the cooperation is the confirmation of supervision as well as a confirmed delimitation of topics by the professor of a university or research institution entitled to confer a doctorate.

Qualification Requirements

  • Good to very good university degree qualifying for doctoral studies in the fields of human factors, psychology or comparable fields
  • In-depth experience with user studies, especially study design
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and statistics
  • English language level C1, German language level B1
  • Knowledge of AI and Explainable AI desirable
