Are you driven by problem solving? Do you thrive working with complex and large equipment? Look no further, MacGregor is looking to hire a Service Engineer with Electrical and automation or Mechanical and Hydraulic competence.

The purpose of this role is to execute service, repair and maintenance work, such as diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair of equipment on the MacGregor product range, plus 3rd party makers if needed.

We are looking for a candidate with previous experience within the shipping sector working with products such as hatch covers, ramps, winches, cranes and steering gears (Mega Yacht focus), but not limited to. Your main discipline is electrical, mechanical, hydraulics and automation systems. As a person you are customer-oriented, cooperative, and have excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively share information within the team.

This is a position that requires that you travel to client sites, vessels or at shipyards worldwide. Our clients are spread across the globe therefore, flexibility and a strong willingness to travel is essential.

More Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulics and electrical systems
  • Advanced maintenance on electrical, control and mechanical equipment
  • Supervise and perform service activities such as refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance and corrective actions
  • Stay up to date with relevant developments, routines, processes and news
  • Provide information and write reports as required
  • Support sales activities such as follow-up on leads and quotes while at site, as agreed with sales responsible
  • Follow all site safety rules, agreed working practices and environmental requirements
  • Comply with all relevant safety and quality requirements according to MacGregor
  • Leading teams of up to 10 persons for refit projects worldwide.

This role is part of our Global Services Division. Reporting directly to the Service Manager. This position is based in Bremerhaven.

What You’ll Need To Succeed

The suitable person also has communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multicultural environment.

Ideally you have

  • Education within the electrical, control and automation field. Relevant experience may compensate for lack of education.
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar position
  • Previous experience in the maritime/ shipping industry is essential.
  • Previous experience with shipboard equipment is an asset
  • Ability to write reports and documentation electronically
  • Fluent in English - both verbal and written
  • Experience in Mega Yacht business as an advantage
