Our research team in the Experimental and Translational Ophthalmology Department at the University Medical Center of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz has long focused on the pathogenesis of ocular surface diseases, with the goal of developing innovative diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for dry eye to be applied in clinical practice. Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art proteomics and antigen/antibody microarray technologies, as well as comprehensive cell culture and biochemical assay facilities.

We are now looking for motivated Master students to join our international team and support our research efforts.

Activities And Responsibilities

  • Dissect cellular and molecular pathways driving hyperosmotic stress-induced damage
  • Evaluate novel therapeutic agents for protection and repair of the corneal epithelium
  • Participate in general management of the lab

Qualification profile

  • Bachelor´s degree in Life Sciences successfully completed
  • Proficient in English
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and within a team
  • Basic experience or strong interest in cell culture and molecular assays
